Nestled in a quiet forested hollow the cabin is surrounded by the South River Highlands, a 200 plus acre natural preserve dedicated to protecting and sustaining the forest and meadow environment of the Appalachian high country. The Highlands overlook the Maury River, the old canal route for the Chesapeake and Kanahwa Canal, which ran from Richmond to Lexington and beyond. The trail along the tow path is only steps from the front door , and the adventurous can stroll beside the river on this easy path to either Lexington or Buena Vista. |
